Please Help Me is a service for children and young people delivering 24/7 support and help for children and young people aged 10 to 24 years who may need emotional support, advice and guidance to avoid/prevent emotional distress that may lead to emotional crisis. The service is mainly delivered by peer young people supporters at University level of learning with the mentorship/leadership of experienced counsellors, psychotherapists, educationists and community leaders.

Please Help Me: 24/7 Support for Young People, Guided by Peers and Mentors to Navigate Life’s Challenges
What We Do:
Give advice where manageable
Give helpful information, contact and online support tools
Refer/sign posting to the appropriate services that specialise in the young persons needs
Contact agencies/supervisors for further guidance
Deliver resilience and mental health support for 10 –24-year-olds affected by any form of distress/pressure.
Work in partnership with Secondary schools for our children to build a support process for children in distress.
Deliver a range of individual, 1-2-1, peer support
Discuss with parents in understanding and awareness of their children’s emotional, social and physical needs and improve their parenting skills. And providing support in families homes
Use the information gained through the assessment to develop a child-centred, outcome-focused plan and risk assessment with parents for their engagement with the identified service
Promote and educate families about current topics affecting young people, providing them with knowledge skills and information on key risks, supporting their emotional and physical safety.
We do this by:
Taking calls and responding to text messages
Be on live chat/app support
Provide outreach activities to improve the reach of services to children and families in the area and ensure that those families will gain the most from services; are included and involved and have equal access to services.
Undertake child-focused assessments with children and young people in partnership with parents/carers and professionals to establish an understanding of the child and parent’s needs, and any existing or potential risks and to gain knowledge of the ‘child’s lived experience’ and parental challenges.
Working collaboratively with coordinated care and support for families through liaison, referrals and multiagency partnership working, with Health, Social Services, Education and other statutory and voluntary and specialist agencies.
Assisting families to access, build and maintain effective relationships with Our Roots and other support services.
To participate and contribute to meetings with external agencies, to advocate in meetings on behalf of Our Roots and, where appropriate involve families in such meetings.
